Who doesn’t love a good charcuterie board? A variety of cured meats paired with cheeses and a wide range of accompaniments means an unlimited number of delicious combinations! I love putting together a board for any occasion, it is perfect as a starter where your guests can leisurely graze on with an aperitif just before the dinner starts. It requires no cooking at all, and you really get to see your creativity shine as you put it together. If you’re unsure of what to get, I’d recommend at least two to three cured hams, my go-to combination so far has been Italian prosciutto, a mild danish salami and a spicy Italian Sopressata salami for a balanced selection. Followed by three cheeses of different textures (soft, semi-hard and hard), a soft Brie or Camembert always goes down well, Gruyere and Gouda are deliciously nutty semi-hard option and a Spanish Manchego is a fantastic hard cheese. Have at least a cracker or bread to serve as a vessel, and go crazy with the accompaniments! Whatever you fancy, dried fruits, nuts, pickles or jams, have a good mix of sweet and savoury items to add depth and variety for you and your guests. For an added touch, I love adding either fresh herbs or edible flowers for garnish, they truly add that bit of colour that brightens it all up.
